Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic band 6 Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join our ever developing Cardio-Respiratory department at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
The role includes utilizing existing knowledge and skills to undertake a lead role in performing and interpreting non-invasive diagnostic tests and a secondary role in highly complex procedures. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to interpret national and local standards in order to provide an effective and efficient service to the highest possible standard and to perform with competency and autonomy a range of cardiac investigations for Hywel Dda Health Board's population. These investigations would include exercise tolerance testing, ambulatory monitoring analysis and to provide support within the cardiac device follow-up service. The role is a permanent, full-time post with opportunity to work flexible hours within the working week.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is advertised as an annex 21 Band 6. Applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby 70% of the top of Band 6 will be payable during the first year, 75% during the second year. Applicants would be supported to develop their competencies required to fulfil the role within 24 months. Failure to achieve the competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
As part of the Annex 21 process, there is no financial penalty to those who apply for this role where the percentage will cause a reduction in pay, subsequently a local protection would be put in place until the pay has caught up.
To work independently, on own initiative to ensure the effective provision of investigations. Recognise and act on urgent results liaising with medical and nursing colleagues to ensure correct action is taken and advising on complex issues and results.
Delivering ambulatory BP and ECG monitoring service by preparing and issuing devices for patients. Interpreting the results to produce a clinical report.
Performing and interpreting exercise tolerance tests with or without medical supervision, taking full responsibility for patients safety throughout, recognising and acting appropriately in an emergency. Delivering a cardiac device follow-up service within own knowledge and capability and under the supervision of senior colleagues.
Performing and interpreting ECGs on a range of patients in emergency and routine situations and advise clinicians on urgent findings.
Recording routine and urgent observations during patient assessment, e.g. blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels, and taking appropriate action.
