Job summary

Withybush General Hospital are recruiting a Physician Associates to work in Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

As a Physician Associate, you will provide high quality patient care in conjunction with clinical teams. You will be required to work flexibly which will involve working across the cluster and as part of a wider clinical team including General Practitioner (GP), Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, pharmacists and other Allied Health Professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team where you will undertake physical assessment and history taking of patients and provide immediate care and initiate treatment as per clinical pathways/protocols and Patient Group Directions.

You will work autonomously and be supervised by a named Consultant / GP. You will provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care in conjunction with the clinical teams and may be the lead specialist providing specialist advice to staff and patients.

You will be support to develop clinical knowledge and will have access to continuing professional development opportunities.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • Degree in a life science and/or a significant background in healthcare.
  • Masters degree or Diploma in Physician Associate Studies from a recognised UK training programme and evidence of successful completion of the UK National PA exam.
  • Registration with the UK Managed Voluntary Registry for Physician Associates / Faculty of PA's
  • Membership of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the Royal College of Physicians.
  • Undertakes continuing medical examinations to maintain on-going certification with the PA managed voluntary register or equivalent.
