Job summary

The Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDUHB) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and suitably qualified individual to undertake the role of Operational Facilities - CAD Technician. This is a key position within HDUHB's Operational Maintenance Function.

The post covers both east and west regions of the HDUHB, however you will be based at one of the main acute hospital sites with the option of part working from home. As part of the role, you will be expected to travel across other parts of the estate.

The post holder will be an integral part of a strong team culture, working closely with your senior line manager and other senior regional operational managers, such as the Assistant Head of Operational Facilities Management, Head of Operations and the Director of Facilities, Estates and Capital Planning.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated CAD drawing support to the Operational Maintenance Department, ensuring a high quality service across a variety of operational engineering disciplines.

Main duties of the job

As CAD technician, you will be expected to undertake (both assisted and unassisted) detailed measured surveys across the HDUHB's estate in order to prepare technical CAD drawings of installed engineering components/assets.

To work very closely with the Site Works Supervisors and Operational Support Officers at each of the acute hospital sites who will oversee the day to day work programme and work scheduling.

To support the Operational Maintenance Function and the Fire Safety Team by providing accurate and descriptive engineering CAD and asset information to operational engineering staff when required.

To liaise frequently with staff from key departmental functions, such as Discretionary & Major Capital Project Team, Property & Environmental and the Fire Safety Team, in order to ensure that CAD drawings are fully comprehensive and accurate.

To directly lead and manage the shared library of information relating to engineering record drawings and engineering assets installed across the HDUHB's estate using CAD and the CAFM (Maintenance System). To ensure also, that there is a suitable platform implemented that allows staff to have regular access to this information continually across the HDUHB.

Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and technical healthcare guidance as necessary.
