Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen is looking for Band 5 Radiographers.
Glangwili General Hospital is a busy district general hospital which has major trauma status for West Wales.
Role extension is encouraged, and we have Radiographer led Barium swallows and hysterosalpingograms, Plain film, CT and MRI Radiographer reporting and opportunities for post graduate study including ultrasound training.
The department has a busy on call, which is staffed on site for General and CT. Participation in on call is mandatory after training and induction has been completed. All modalities work extended days and weekends.
Applicants will possess BSc / DCR(R) in Diagnostic Radiography (or recognised equivalent) and HCPC registration. The successful applicants will be based at Glangwili General Hospital but will be expected to be flexible in their approach to the needs of the service and may be required to work at other sites within the Health Board.
The post is a full-time position plus participation in extended days and the out of hours rota. Part time or job share are welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
To act as IR(ME)R practitioner and operator for radiological procedures within their scope of practice and to comply with IR(ME)R employer procedures, IR local rules and Health Board policies and procedures.
To maintain HCPC registration.
To assist with organisation of the radiology workflow.
To prioritise patient throughput according to clinical needs.
To arrange correct patient preparation and positioning prior to examination.
To communicate effectively with a senior member of staff or Modality Lead if there are any suspected problems with equipment.
To participate in duties to ensure a 24/7 service.
To be involved in proposing, developing and implementing changes and improvements to practice.
Liaise with a wide range of staff from other departments to ensure service efficiency.
Give information, instructions and advice tactfully and sensitively to patients and/or their carers who are referred for radiological procedures.
Provide support for patients who have received bad news.
Be able and willing to explain radiation risks to patients and referrers.
To liaise with referrers in a timely fashion to support appropriate treatment/discharge.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
