The Specialist Children & Adolescent Mental Health Service (S-CAMHS) has opened the door on a new career pathway, for dynamic practitioners, leading Wales into the future with the development of the Wellbeing HWB as a significant step in the expansion of S-CAMHS Crisis services as we move to providing alternatives to admission for Children and Young People.We have an exciting opportunity for a RNM, SW, or OT to undertake the role of Mental Health Practitioner.The emotional wellbeing HWB provides a safe place for Young People who are experiencing emotional distress where they can be supported to de-escalate before returning to their home environment.As a Mental health Practitioner you will have an integral role in delivery of this service to support YP in developing positive coping strategies and help individuals build resilience in order to remain safely in the community.This is a full-time post however part time will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The Crisis service provides a 24/7 service, 7 days a week covering days and nights.The role includes Mental Health assessments within A&E, following up on urgent referrals, developing initial care plans and undertaking risk assessments. Using the Mental Health Measure Wales and responsible for developing assessments, care and treatment planning (CTP), WARRN risk assessment and working with an MDT.
You will liaise with colleagues in adult service to facilitate admission for Children and YP to age-appropriate bed within Hywel Dda UHB Paediatric ward at GGH and the acute adult mental health admission ward. You will undertake follow up visits within a young persons home and community settings providing therapeutic in supportive visits to the YP on the CATT caseload.Although desirable, experience in S-CAMH services is not a requirement, and we would encourage interest from a range of candidates with relevant experience.
