An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the senior leadership team in the Role of Advanced Practitioner in Colposcopy , to lead and develop our teams and services across the Colposcopy speciality within the Women and Children's health Directorate for the Hywel Dda University Health board area, working in close association with the Cervical Screening wales arm of public health wales .
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager for Gynaecology and sexual Health, the Head of Midwifery , the Directorate head of Nursing and Cervical Screening wales to provide the leadership and day to day professional and managerial responsibility for Colposcopy service teams across the 3 acute hospital sites within Hywel Dda University Health board.
This is a substantive band 8a post with the base location based at Glangwili General Hospital, with an expectation to travel to other hospital sites (Withybush General Hospital, Bronglais General Hospitals ) on occasion, within the health board to support s service delivery whilst providing professional and development support to the nursing teams within the Colposcopy service.
The role also requires a strong clinical background in the colposcopy speciality as there will be clinical responsibilities associated to the role.
Main duties of the job
Some of the main duties and responsibilities include, to provide leadership and direction to all registered and unregistered nurses working in the delivery of Colposcopy Service. Direct, lead and motivate nursing staff within the Colposcopy service to ensure the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery, ensuring that activity is aligned to Health Board and Cervical Screening Wales plans and strategies.
Ensure the Health Board's aims and objectives and associated targets and strategies are clearly communicated to all relevant staff so that effective contributions to implementation of operational plans can be made, in line with standards and targets set out by cervical screen Wales.
Act as initial focal point for all concerns arising in Colposcopy service and for professional/operational issues that arise on a daily basis and be responsible for the management of nursing staff and resources in Colposcopy service teams.
There is a clinical service delivery element of the role, which involves delivering effective colposcopy interventions and participate in clinical discussions of patients accessing the colposcopy service.
Undertake coaching, mentoring, resource planning, standard setting, performance management and team and individual development to ensure a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.
