Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Emergency Nurse Practitioners to join our nurse led unscheduled Walk in Centre in South Pembrokeshire. Situated within the picturesque town of Tenby, the Walk in Centre provides treatment and advice for a range of minor injuries, illnesses and general health problems to both local residents and people visiting on holiday. The service is open Monday to Friday including bank holidays.

You will develop skills in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge/transfer of patients under supervision and in accordance with agreed clinical guidelines though clinical practice and completion of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner course. The course is due to start in September 7th, 2023, and will run for 22 weeks with a mix of hybrid face to face and online training.

Commencement of the ENP course will be a requirement for successful applicants to undertake in September 2023.

The successful applicant will join a friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team providing autonomous assessment and management of patients presenting to the department with minor injuries and illnesses.

As part of this role, there will be opportunity and an expectation to work with with the acute response team during periods of escalation, building on the skills you will develop through the ENP training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner in the care and management of patients presenting to the Walk in Centre with minor injuries and conditions.

They will be instrumental in supporting the development of a team culture that improves quality and enhances the patient experience.You will be an experienced registered nurse who can practice, without direct supervision, as an independent healthcare practitioner providing a high standard of care to patients who present with minor injuries and illness. You will be confident and able to assess patients, plan their care, administer treatment and discharge or refer them on as appropriate, ensuring that high quality, safe, appropriate and effective clinical care is provided to service users.

You will be:Registered Adult Nurse NMC level 1 or equivalentExperience and an interest in developing skills and experience in management of minor injuries and illnesses.Excellent interpersonal skillsHave a good working knowledge of safeguarding issues for children and adultWillingness to commence the Emergency Nurse Practitioner Qualification in September 2023
