An exciting and opportunity has arisen for a full time qualified Occupational Therapist to develop their clinical skills under the Occupational Therapy Career Framework working in Older Adult Mental Health at Bryngolau ward, based at Caebryn, Prince Phillip Hospital in Llanelli.
The Older Adult Mental Health Service (OAMH) are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a specific interest in OAMH and passion for working with people with functional and organic mental health issues. This post is a fantastic opportunity to develop the Occupational Therapy role in inpatient environment and contribute to service developments. The key aims of the service include proactive care, providing an inclusive and multi-disciplinary pathway enabling people to improve function and return to their home of choice.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for autonomously holding an Occupational Therapy caseload for clients with functional and organic mental health issues on Bryngolau ward, which includes those with complex presentations. This will involve selecting and undertaking evidence-based assessments, developing holistic and person-centred goals and care plans, delivering interventions, evaluating outcomes and adapting plan of care based on outcomes.
The post holder will be keen to develop best practice in compliance with Dementia Standards and A Healthier Wales, and will maintain close links with Community Mental Health Teams in OAMH as well as other services to support patients on discharge.
The post holder will be required to develop positive relationships between all healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies, maintaining good communication across all areas. You will have the benefit of working with and providing Supervision for an OT Technician and will be expected to act as clinical Supervisor to Undergraduate students.

Applicants would be supported to develop their competencies required to fulfil the role within a 12 to 24 month period. Full support will be provided in terms of professional development and achieving competencies in achieving band 6 level under Annex 21.
