Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 staff nurse to work in the Breast Unit in Prince Phillip Hospital, we are looking for an individual who has a flexible approach to the needs of the service, is dynamic, self-motivated and who is committed to development and improvement. You will be working alongside the healthcare support workers, clinical nurse specialists and multi-disciplinary team members to support its busy outpatient clinic.

Previous outpatients experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given. The department offers a supportive and learning environment which endeavours to constantly develop the service, in order that its patients receive the highest quality and most up to date care.

Flexible working is required; the clinics are open 08.30-17.30 Monday-Friday. Breast services sit within the planned care service, under the surgical division. This is a substantive band 5 post at 22.5 hours per week. The base location would be at Prince Phillip Hospital but with an expectation to travel to the other hospital breast unit sites within a timely manner to meet the service delivery during sickness and annual leave.

Main duties of the job

As Registered Nurse you will be accountable for the delivery of a high standard of cost effective nursing care without direct supervision in a variety of scheduled and clinical sessions for differing specialities. This will be based upon evidence based practice in line with the legal requirements, statutory rules and Health care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.

You will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members and contribute to develop and maintaining the ward/department philosophy.

You will take charge of the department in the absence of the nurse in charge and support staff in the efficient running of the clinical area. Hywel Dda values should be embedded in your daily practice.

As a Registered Nurse in Outpatients you should have an awareness of the referral to treatment times that the service is governed by.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Interviews to be held on 7th August 2023
