Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDdUHB) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic leader to fulfil the role of Deputy Radiology and Medical Imaging Services Manager .

This exciting new post is a full time permanent position based at one of our main sites which will be agreed with the successful candidate at point of offer. This is a Health Board wide role and there will be a requirement to travel and work with the radiology teams across all Hywel Dda Radiology sites and attend regional and national meetings as required by the Head of Radiology.

The Deputy Radiology and Medical Imaging Services Manager will be responsible for the operational management and budget of the Clinical Photography and Medical Illustration Service and will assist the Head of Radiology in the delivery of radiography and radiology diagnostic services across all radiology departments within HDdUHB.

The successful candidate will be required to work with key stake holders to deliver safe, high quality, efficient, effective, responsive clinical radiology services and provide operational and management assistance to the Directorate including budgetary and workforce management and monitoring along with effective use of resources and equipment. The post holder will be the lead for the Directorate's performance with the Welsh Government Single Cancer Pathway targets and compliance.

Main duties of the job

To deputise for the Head of Radiology in the operational management and all aspects of the radiology services provided within Hywel Dda UHB (HDUHB).

To be responsible for the management of the Medical Illustration Service and associated budget, ensuring clinical governance and compliance with health and safety legislation.

To assist the Head of Radiology in delivering performance targets for above services and with the aim of achieving financial breakeven with any agreed cost improvement measures for the radiology and medical illustration budgets.

To ensure compliance with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (2017), Ionising Radiation Regulations (2017) and any future legislation affecting the provision of diagnostic imaging.

To identify or devise innovative work practices that would improve the efficiency of the services whilst ensuring clinical governance remains the priority.

To "horizon-scan", maintaining up-to-date knowledge of clinical and technological development of radiological practice and identify where these would benefit the overall aims of the HB.

To assist the Head of Radiology to ensure that services are provided and delivered in accordance with safe practice, set targets and within financial balance.

The post holder may (as required) undertake the lead role for the delivery of specific Radiology-wide projects or initiatives and deputise for the Head of Radiology.

  • Attendance on Specialist courses.
