Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the senior leadership team in the Role of Senior Nurse Manager, to lead and develop our teams and services across the Gynaecology speciality within the Women and Children's health Directorate for the Hywel Dda University Health board area.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager for Gynaecology and sexual Health, the Head of Midwifery and the Directorate head of Nursing to provide the leadership and day to day professional and managerial responsibility for gynaecology service teams across the 4 acute hospital sites within Hywel Dda University Health board.
This is a substantive band 8a post with the base location based at Glangwili General Hospital, with an expectation to travel to other hospital sites (Withybush General Hospital, Bronglais General Hospitals and Prince Philip Hospital) within the health board to support s service delivery whilst providing professional and development support to the nursing teams within the Gynaecology service.

The right person must have the passion and drive to provide and promote forward thinking service delivery, excellent professional standards and an compassionate leadership approach.
Main duties of the job
Some of the main duties and responsibilities include, to provide leadership and direction to all registered and unregistered nurses working in the delivery of Gynaecology specialties. Direct, lead and motivate nursing staff within the Gynaecology specialties to ensure the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery, ensuring that activity is aligned to Health Board plans and strategies.
Ensure the Health Board's aims and objectives and associated targets and strategies are clearly communicated to all relevant staff so that effective contributions to implementation of operational plans can be made.
Act as initial focal point for all concerns arising in Gynaecology specialties and for professional/operational issues that arise on a daily basis and be responsible for the management of nursing staff and resources in designated teams.
Undertake coaching, mentoring, resource planning, standard setting, performance management and team and individual development to ensure a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence is visible at the hospital.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
