An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team in General Surgery. The base will be at Glangwili General Hospital however, there is an expectation that you will work across both Carmarthenshire acute hospital sites (Glangwili and Prince Philip).
We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational individual who has a passion for ensuring the provision of high quality, safe services, with excellent outcomes that delivers efficiencies as well as meeting the service needs of key stakeholders including all acute, community, primary care and local authority partners, patients and the public.
The General Surgical service is growing and you will be part of an important service delivery model and assist to shape how the service develops in time. As part of the role, there is an opportunity to work as part of a wider Health Board General Surgery team. In addition, you will support the on call and ward based teams through day and night duties. There may be a future opportunity to expand your scope of practice. This may include appropriate training for responsibility in the OPD General Surgery clinics, Theatre and Endoscopy. Furthermore, applicants may wish to develop a speciality interest such as upper or lower GI.
Main duties of the job
The role provides the opportunity to gain experience across the spectrum of General Surgical care from service management for clinical delivery and by integrating with our Unscheduled Care directorate, ensuring patient flow through acute hospitals are effective by means of avoiding admissions and facilitating discharges where clinically appropriate.
Responsibilities include assessment of new and ward patients, institution of immediate treatment, organisation and follow up of investigations, practical procedures (including venous blood sampling, ABG, IV cannulation, Radiology requesting) and prescribing within guidelines.
All Advanced Practitioner Roles must adhere to the Hywel Dda EAGLE Governance Framework for Advanced Practice. The following duties and responsibilities are designed around the Advanced Practice Pillars (Clinical, Leadership and Management, Education, Research) and guidance as outlined in the Framework for Advanced Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional Practice in Wales 2010.
