High Risk Podiatrist

Job summary

You will work as part of an existing team of podiatrists in Powys and will have a specialist interest in the management of the high-risk patient and wound care. You will be given opportunities in the longer term to develop their own specialist knowledge, skills and competence. The successful candidate will be supported to gain an independent prescribing qualification if they do not already have one.

You should have proven specialist clinical skills and be keen to take an active part in contributing to ongoing development of our service. You will need to have excellent communication, motivationaland organisational skills, a flexible approach to workto deliver a high standard of care

You will be based in Welshpool or Newtown and you will be responsible for the day to day running of the wound care service providing specialist podiatry services to patients with diabetic foot complications in a busy clinical environment. You will undertake advanced wound care and casting techniques. You will be responsible for the clinical supervision of junior team members, students, and other support staff within the team.

The goal of the service is to enable patients to make informed choices about how to manage their condition, so that they can stay as well as possible for as long as possible, and reduce their risk of diabetes-related complications. Patients are empowered to self-manage wherever possible.

Main duties of the job

There has been considerable investment in PTHB AHP Leadership Team who are forward thinking and innovative embracing current strategy, and this filters down to all staff. Recent developments, to support evolving health care needs resulting from the remote locality of Powys and Covid 19 pandemic, have included rollout of digital records and video consultations so the location of this post is not fixed.

This a full-time post, but applicants who are looking for part time hours or job shares will be considered.

The post will involve some travelling throughout Powys.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
