Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arising for an advanced physiotherapy practitioner in MSK working for Powys Teaching Health Board.

You will take a lead role in the development and implementation of Musculoskeletal (MSK) pathways in Powys.

A key element of this role will be providing clinicalleadership for triage of MSK and Orthopaedic referrals from various primary care/community services.

You will take on a Physiotherapy clinical leadership role within the Musculoskeletal service across the Health Board being aneducational resource to other members of the physiotherapy team and other disciplines as required, with a focus onpromoting a culture of clinical excellence

You will work in close liaison with MSK primary and secondary care teams. You will also work closely with PTHB professional head of physiotherapy, CMATs/FCP service lead and Consultant MSK physiotherapist to inform and deliver high quality care to patients.

Clinical Supervision and training will be supported in this role.

This role will be based in Newtown, North Powys.

Main duties of the job

A key element of this role will be providing clinicalleadership for triage of MSK and Orthopaedic referrals from various primary care/community services.

Providing a source of clinical expertise and supervision for the MSK MDT team.

You will manage a caseload of highly complex MSK conditions.

You will assist the Professional Head of Physiotherapy, Service Lead for CMATS/FCP, Consultant MSK Physiotherapist and MSKPhysio Team Leads in the development of strategic and operational planning for the non-surgical musculoskeletalmanagement of musculoskeletal conditions

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Physiotherapy Degree/diploma
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and relevant post-graduate training in area of clinical expertise
  • Ongoing involvement in research around relevant area
  • Completed post graduate MSc or M-level learning in relevant clinical specialty
  • Post-graduate Leadership qualification/training
  • Injection Therapy qualification and experience
  • Completion of non-medical referrer training and evidence of requesting appropriate radiology investigations
  • Knowledge of local and national Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedic strategic drivers in relation to patient care
  • Detailed knowledge of National clinical guidelines and current best practice
  • Advanced clinical knowledge in specialist area
  • Knowledge and experience of clinical governance issues, current legislation affecting practice, organisational systems and understanding key performance indicators, relevant to this role
