Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen for anenthusiastic, dynamic dietitian to lead a rural dietetic service, in Powys Teaching Health Board, mid Wales. As part of Therapies and Health Science Leadership Team, you will operationally and strategically lead the growing Dietetic service and contribute to Powys Livewell strategy.

Over recent years the Department has expanded core services and now has established leads for Adults, Paediatrics, Medicines Management and Public Health. The post also provides professional leadership to dietitians in other services including oncology, eating disorders and weight management services. The service supports a varied caseload, including inpatients, public health programmes, and links with secondary and tertiary care centres to deliver Value Based Healthcare.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Dietetics is a professional leader within the Therapies and Health Science services. The post holder will be accountable for:

  • Providing professional leadership and advice to the dietetics service and the organisation;
  • Operational management of the dietetic services across Powys;
  • Development, provision and evaluation of a comprehensive clinical dietetics service;
  • Providing advice on a wide range of dietetics matters to patients, service users, carers and clinicians;
  • To lead on specific clinical audits, research and quality improvement projects;
  • Holding a highly complex clinical caseload.
