An exciting opportunity has arisen for Maternity cover for 12 months from November 2024 to lead PTHB Dietetic Public Health service. The service oversees Nutrition education of health professionalsand community members(e.g. through delivery of Nutrition Skills for Life TM courses and other non-accredited training), Community Nutrition projects(e.g. Food and Fun) and links with Public Health leads supporting the Systems Approach to Weight Managementand Healthy Schools/Preschools initiatives. The postholder will seek and collate bids for funding opportunities, lead on national campaigns and projects to promote dietetics and nutrition, and collate related metrics. It is anticipated too will be required support delivery of Level 3 Agored Cymru Dietetic Support worker qualification in 2025.

The service is committed to student training, in 2025 will support placed students from Cardiff and Glyndwr Universities, alongside development of graduate dietitians. You will have excellent administrative and IT support, opportunity for CPD, and build collaborative links through PTHB Professional Dietetics Forum, All Wales colleagues, and access to BDA resources.

Main duties of the job

Act as lead clinician for the delivery of a comprehensive Public Health Community Dietetic service to a population with diverse health and social needs across Powys Teaching Health Board. The post holder will work within the British Dietetic Association Professional Code of conduct and Professional Standards of Practice.

Ensure equity of access and monitor workload to effectively use resources.

Work autonomously to develop specific training programmes requiring specialist nutrition knowledge in the areas and with the groups targeted. To be directly responsible for the equitable delivery of these.

Responsible for the continued development of an evidence based Public Health Nutrition and Dietetic service.
