Job summary
The Endometriosis / Women's Health Clinical Nurse Specialist will undertake a range of duties including highly skilled clinical knowledge and experience supporting the Head of Midwifery and Sexual Health with the relevant quality improvement programmes relating to the Women's Health service plan.
The post holder will offer clinical knowledge and skills to provide clinical leadership to women's health staff, working in close collaboration and co-operation with members of the multi-professional team and outside agencies. This will be a key leadership post as part of the Women's Health service plan with a requirement to establish and maintain collaborative working with outside agencies.
The post holder will be involved in maintaining and expanding a Powys women's health service inclusive of problems relating to pelvic pain, endometriosis, menopause, patients with mesh complexities.
Main duties of the job
o Be responsible and accountable for the total episode of care of the patient including assessment, treatment and where required onward referral following the Health Board's guidance with appropriate clinical decisions in line with national standards.
o Instigate appropriate follow-up and/or further investigations for any anomalous findings, as per departmental policies, keeping the client informed and gaining appropriate consent.
o Responsibility for the management of women's health clinical services and resources.
o Continuing responsibility for the day to day management of women's health services within the clinical area.
o Provides a full range of women's health, education and social care advice to clients within an integrated model of care.
o Acts as a mentor and educators for clinicians and members of the wider multidisciplinary team providing women's health services.
o Required to work without direct supervision and under their own responsibility to provide women's health services to clients. They will need to work autonomously within departmental guidelines and sphere of professional practice.
