Job summary

Provide a specialist Clinical Psychology Service within the Powys Living Well Service as part of the Health Board's approach to managing long term conditions. Provide a highly specialist psychological service including assessment, formulation, intervention, evaluation, training and supervision; providing advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, nonprofessional carers, working within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. Undertake research, audit and service development as an integral part of service delivery. Promote the employment of psychological strategies, to enhance self-management and specifically work with patients that may present with behaviours that may be deemed challenging. Contribute to teaching, training and supervision of other staff within the service regarding all and any psychological perspectives of long-term condition management. Contribute to any strategic planning contributing to further developments of the Powys Living Well Service within Powys Teaching Health Board.OrBand 8 Annex 21To undertake a training programme to obtain where relevant, the necessaryprofessional body exams, training, and / or experience to meet the Band 8aPractitioner Psychologist role and all duties as indicated within this jobdescription

Main duties of the job

Our practitioner psychologists work across a range of health conditions. Delivering one to one and group interventions. You will have opportunities to develop you skills in:

Pain Management

Fatigue Management including Long Covid

Level 3 weight Management

and other related conditions

Qualification and / or knowledge

Essential

  • Professional Doctorate in Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the British Psychological Society
  • Registered with Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC) as qualified Practitioner Psychologist
  • Experience post qualification within a relevant area where skills are transferrable to adults with chronic health conditions
  • Knowledge of clinical psychological assessment, formulation, and psychological treatment as well as experience of providing these across all core specialties
  • Knowledge of specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
  • Commitment to undertake a development programme to achieve the relevant qualifications/ knowledge, skills, and experience as within the job description and person specification for this role

  • Knowledge of specific models of neuro psychology

Experience

  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity teams, across professional groups
  • Experience in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with thorough knowledge of motivational interviewing and behaviour change principles and have sufficient knowledge to train others and create psychological formulations using these models

  • Experience working with adult population either in Mental Health or within clinical health psychology settings
