Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced individual to the role of Point of Care Testing Coordinator (PoCT).

This is a fixed term post until March 2025. Secondments will be considered subject to you having gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

The postholder will be responsible for supporting PoCT implementation and ensuring a fit-for-purpose clinical governance framework through staff training, quality control/assurance, audit, and attainment of relevant accreditation.

The post holder will and work closely with colleagues across all hospital and community sites and will be responsible for liaising between various staff groups and departments to deliver a safe, effective, responsive, and expanding service.

Given the outward facing nature of this role, the successful individual will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills. This role will provide the post holder with significant opportunity to develop innovative solutions involving PoCT to enhance clinical pathways for our rural community.

Main duties of the job

In this exciting and challenging role, you will be operationally responsible for managing and developing the PoCT Service across Powys.

The post holder will be a key member of The Medical Device and Point of Care Testing Group and other relevant governance groups, providing support, guidance, and scientific advice to meet objectives and aims.

The post holder will lead on health board wide replacement schemes and identify appropriate funding streams in conjunction with Service Group Managers.

The post holder will monitor financial reports in relation to medical devices and point of care testing equipment, for example, loan and hire equipment.

The post holder will be the lead advisor for strategic plans involving PoCT within the health board.

The post holder will organise and analyse audits and surveys to provide reassurance that appropriate clinical governance concerns in relation to PoCT performed by Health Board staff in all Directorates are met and to enable evidence-based service improvements where appropriate.

The post holder will liaise with service groups/Health Board Risk Management, Quality and Safety and Clinical Leads to ensure a standardised, consistent approach to PoCT is maintained
