Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Midwife to provide part time (15 hours) additional clinical supervisor for Midwives support as part of the Powys Midwifery support for ongoing aftercare for the Maternity services for a six month secondment opportunity. The post-holder will need to have a passion for delivery of effective clinical supervision and influencing the quality of maternity services and experience around supporting women and families. The post will be a key member of the Midwifery Senior Management team and work in partnership within Maternity Services in to provide highly specialist clinical advice and support in relation to clinicalsupervision to all staff within Women & Children's directorate. The post holder will work closely with the Governance & Risk Lead for Women & Childrens directorate to ensure lessons learned are shared with staff and that staff have the opportunity to discuss reflectively on cases in a safe space.
The role is interesting and varied encompassing a range of knowledge and understanding of strategy for supporting and advising staff with a restorative approach to supervision in maternity services. The Clinical Supervisor of Midwives will have a high level of autonomy using relevant expert knowledge and skills and will be required to utilise their specialist knowledge and skills to provide guidance, support, clinical supervision and training to Health Board professionals.

- Registered midwife with broad knowledge and experience of midwifery practice
- Educated to first degree level Masters degree or equivalent experience
- Evidence of CPD in line with Revalidation
- A thorough understanding of professional standards and regulation particularly the Code (2015) and other NMC guidance
- Sound knowledge of clinical policies guidelines and procedures
- Sound knowledge of clinical governance and its implementation
- An appreciation of strategic issues affecting health and health care provision

- Knowledge / experience of HB operational Policies, e.g. Complaints Policy, Risk Managemen
