Job summary
The Community Practice Development School Nurse isresponsible for ensuring that staff within the School Nursing service provide a high-quality service to patients. This will be achieved through developing clinical practice by ensuring staff and students are equipped and supported with the skills to perform their role in line with the most recent evidence-based practice. The role includes the planning and organisation of ongoing Healthy Child Wales Programme training and other training needs within the service. Close liaison with Higher Education Institutes will be essential for the post holder to lead on and implement the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment. Responsible for the management of a caseload within a defined population to ensure advanced clinical knowledge and expertise is maintained and demonstrated.
Main duties of the job
Ensure innovative, clinically excellent evidence-based child health surveillance, health promotion and other public health initiatives are delivered. Work as part of a team including management team. Plan, deliver and evaluate School Nursing intervention working with statutory and voluntary agencies. Responsible for planning and practical experience of students through teaching, supervision, and assessment of students to enable student to link theory to practice. Support Health Visitors and School Nurses in their assessor and supervisor roles to students, including SN students.
