Job summary

The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, workingcollaboratively with the MIU Team Leader and where necessary provide supportto the Ward in emergency situations and deputise for the Minor Injury UnitTeam Leader (MIU Team Leader) in their absence in managing the Minor InjuryUnit.The post holder will be able to work autonomously as an Emergency Nursepractitioner to assess, plan, treat and discharge patients/clients who present atthe Minor Injury Unit with undifferentiated, undiagnosed conditions.The post holder will assist in developing the team in all aspects of clinicalgovernance and ensure that Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) policies andprocedures are adhered to.The post holder is also responsible for their own professional standards andmust ensure that they work within their own competencies at all times.OrBand 6 Annex 21To undertake a two-year training programme Band 6 Annex 21 to obtain therelevant professional body exams, training and experience to meet the Band 6Emergency Nurse Practitioner role and all duties as indicated within this jobdescription. The course can be completed before the 2 years.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse to join our team, with a chance to train as an Emergency nurse practitioner. You must be a Qualified NMC nurse who is willing to complete their ENP training or a band 6 nurse practitioner/Emergency care practitioner.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and knowledgeable team which provides excellent care in the treatment of minor injuries within our scope of practice, in line with the unit guidelines and Powys Teaching Health Board policies. We are looking for an experienced staff nurse who would ideally have knowledge of the emergency care setting. The post holder will need to be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of patient focused care and have excellent communication skills.

This busy unit attends to local residents and seasonal visitors and is staffed by dedicated MIU nurses and supported by GPs.

The ability to work well within a team is essential together with the aptitude to work autonomously using your own initiative.

The post holder will be supported to complete an ENP course at University and will be supported by a mentor within the unit and from the University itself.
