Job summary

Are you a compassionate and motivated Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (Band 5) to join our Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient service, supporting young people with acute, complex mental health needs.

You will be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team that values Compassion, Openness and Respect. Working within a therapeutic environment, you'll contribute to structured ward routines, build meaningful therapeutic relationships, and help ensure a safe and nurturing atmosphere for young people and their families. This is an excellent opportunity for both newly registered and experienced nurses looking to grow their skills and develop within a specialist mental health setting.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Maintain clear, accurate nursing records and communicate effectively with young people, families and colleagues.
  • Participate in ward routines, therapeutic engagement and community group activities.
  • Administer medication safely in line with Health Board policies.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and contribute to maintaining a clean and safe ward environment.
  • Use Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI) only as a last resort and in accordance with training and policy.
  • Work collaboratively with the MDT including contributing to reviews, care planning and safeguarding discussions.
  • Support, supervise and guide healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners and students, depending on experience.
  • Participate in service development, ward accreditation and effective use of resources.
