Our happy, friendly department (seeing 55,000 patients pa) is developing fast as we pursue our goal of excellence in rural Emergency Medicine.We are looking to appoint a Consultant to join our team on a permanent basis. We offer a civilized 1 in 8 rota, and the Welsh Consultant Contact is based upon 7 DCC: 3 SPA (full time) which provides flexibility in job planning.As for life in North Wales, if you like outdoor pursuits, you'll be in heaven here: everything from hill-walking to kite-surfing is on the doorstep. Yet we are only a one-hour drive from Chester and the M6, and three hours from London by train.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder would be expected to contribute to clinical and educational activities within the Directorate as determined by the Consultant and colleagues and provide a high quality service to the local population.
- The post holder would be 1 in 8 on call. The post holder will be required to cover for periods of colleagues leave
- The post holder is to assist nominated consultants in the supervision and teaching of junior trainees.
- The post holder would be expected to contribute to local clinical governance activities including clinical audit and clinical risk initiative
- The post holder would be required to co-operate with local management in the efficient running of services and expected to share with all colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
- The post holder is required to travel as necessary between hospitals and clinics. A planned and cost-effective approach is expected
- The post holder will have access to a full team of administrative and clerical support staff as well as office accommodation with a personal computer, e-mail, and internet access.
