Job summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your skills as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist? We have an exciting Band 6 opportunity for 1.0wte within our supportive school-aged services team. The post holder will work within school-aged services across both Conwy and Denbighshire. Clinical sessions to be agreed on appointment depending on current service needs.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong clinical skills and experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a wide range of communication needs, particularly speech and language disorders.
  • Experience of working with children in school-based settings.
  • Experience in planning and delivering training.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, including negotiation, problem solving and planning.
  • Excellent time management, organisation and caseload management skills.
  • Experience of supporting non-qualified staff, including Speech and Language Therapy assistants.
  • An ability to build a strong rapport and work effectively with colleagues.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work with Team Leaders and colleagues in school-aged Speech and Language Therapy services to ensure equity, efficiency and dynamic service delivery.
  • You will work with a varied Paediatric caseload, working with school-aged children, in a range of settings including Primary and Secondary mainstream schools.
  • You will be responsible for assessing, and designing intervention for children on your caseload.
  • You will have the opportunity to work directly with children and young people as well as provide training, advice and support to school staff and the wider workforce.
  • You will work in partnership with families and professionals to support the needs of the children on your caseload.
  • You will be involved in projects which contribute to service development.
  • You will offer support to colleagues and partner agencies to develop knowledge and skills in working with children with speech and language disorders.
