THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 9 MONTHS DUE TO MATERNITY COVER.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 9 month, fixed term part-time (22.5 hours pw) Band 7 Specialist Midwife within the BCUHB Perinatal Mental Health Service.

The team is a specialist regional service that works with individuals with upper moderate to severe mental illness in the perinatal period from pre-conception up until one year postnatal. The service has been through a significant period of expansion over recent years and are working towards accreditation in line with the Perinatal Quality Standards for Community Perinatal Mental Health Services.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, experienced midwife with a demonstrated passion for Perinatal Mental Health as you will need to demonstrate a high level of autonomy within this role. You will work collaboratively with members of the wider Perinatal MDT, with acute in-patient and community mental health services, maternity and obstetric colleagues and a variety of other agencies and third sector organisations in order to ensure that women and their families receive the specialist care and support they need throughout pregnancy and into the postnatal period. The Specialist Midwife for Perinatal Mental Health will also be required to provide support and guidance to staff across BCUHB which will include the delivery of training and supporting the trauma informed care agenda.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships, be self-motivated, proactive, and demonstrate a commitment to excellent service delivery and evidence based clinical practice.

The successful candidate must be approachable, compassionate and flexible in their approach and be able to manage their time effectively.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about their own professional development. The team will provide a robust induction process, and the successful candidate will receive supervision in line with professional requirements and Health Board policy and will also have an opportunity to access training relating to Perinatal Mental Health.
