Job Overview
To provide a specialised child psychotherapy service to clients of the sector, providing specialised psychotherapy assessment and therapy to clients.
To work autonomously in accordance with the Association of Child Psychotherapist's Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines.
To implement and propose policy changes within the team.
To advise service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.
To provide clinical supervision for designated staff, as appropriate.
To contribute to the training of trainee child psychotherapists and the training of other professionals.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.
To act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate.

To provide specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy assessment for children/adolescents with severe, highly complex and persistent mental health problems.
To undertake psychoanalytically informed work with parents/carers of referred infants, children and young people.
Teaching, Training and Supervision
To continue to gain post-qualification experience and skills relevant to child psychotherapyand/or the service.
To contribute as appropriate to the supervision of individual cases for trainee childPsychotherapists.
To develop and provide pre-and post-qualification teaching of child psychotherapy, as appropriate.
To provide training to staff across a range of settings and agencies, where appropriate.

Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
We are proud to announce a newly developed full-time post for ACP Registered Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists at Band 7.The post will be based in Llandudno or Rhyl, providing clinical input to two teams.
Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is a relatively new modality in North Wales CAMHS (established in 2019). There is increasing support for psychoanalytic thinking and for the development of the profession, hence the exciting development of this full-time post, as well as the development of a new trainee post in East North Wales.
You will be contributing to the development of an increasingly valued way of thinking and will be a part of a small but dynamic group of psychotherapists across Wales who are actively involved in the training of other professions and closely linked with Health Education and Improvement Wales and Welsh Government in helping to shape the future of mental health support for infants, children and young people.
You will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of colleagues including Psychiatry, Psychology, Family Therapy, Nursing, Social Workers and, Occupational Therapy colleagues. Clinical supervision will be provided by the Principal Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist.
You will also be joining a service that can demonstrate its commitment to the ongoing training of its clinicians.
