Job summary
Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (Full time, 37.5 hours per week) Acquired adult communication and swallowing disorders.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties predominantly on our acute medical wards but with the option for some time in community settings if you prefer a mixed post.The successful applicant will be fully dysphagia trained and able to manage a caseload independently. You will join a dynamic, friendly and innovative team of therapists and technical instructors, delivering high quality SLT services to adults in North East Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
With our 'one team' approach, we have a range of opportunities for you to develop personally and professionally. This post will involve working primarily with inpatients in Wrexham Maelor Hospital but we have the flexibility to offer up to half your working week in our community service, working across care home, community hospital and domiciliary settings.
There is a wide range of expertise and experience within the friendly and supportive SLT team. You will join a growing team of speech and language therapists and technical instructors and be supported by highly specialist band 7 SLTs. There is excellent peer support.
We have regular whole team meetings. Clinical supervision is actively encouraged and there are regular CPD events and training opportunities as you continue to develop and hone your clinical skills. Access to specialist training is available via internal and external courses, as well as mentoring, attendance at regional and national CEN meetings.
There are regular therapist-led and MDT clinics including Videofluoroscopy and FEES, Joint Voice Clinics, Parkinson's Clinics and MND MDT meetings. There will be opportunities to participate in service improvements and MDT initiatives are encouraged.
