Clinical Lead General Practitioner - Bryn Beryl Community Hospital

The closing date is 08 March 2026

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead role in Bryn Beryl Community Hospital on a two-year fixed-term contract. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality patient centred care within the Community Hospital Setting.

The Clinical Lead will work closely with the hospital management team, Medical Director, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care, robust clinical governance, and continuous service improvement. The role also involves mentoring and supporting staff, fostering a culture of learning, and contributing to strategic decisions that influence the hospital's future direction.

This role requires a proactive leader who can balance strategic priorities with hands-on clinical support, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.

Medical oversight for inpatient services at Bryn Beryl Community Hospital is currently provided through a contract with a local GP Surgery. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are currently employed by the current contract provider and have experience delivering services in this setting, as this will help maintain continuity and support collaborative, cohesive service delivery aligned with the current service model across other Community Hospital settings within the West Integrated Health Community.

Main duties of the job

Provide Clinical Leadership: Act as the senior clinical point of reference for the hospital, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

Drive Service Development: Work with the management team to enhance services in line with the Integrated Health Community (IHC) strategy.

Ensure Clinical Governance: Oversee compliance with Health Board policies, audit processes, and quality improvement initiatives.

Mentor and Support Staff: Promote a culture of learning and professional development across the hospital team.

Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the GP practice delivering inpatient services and other stakeholders to ensure seamless care.

Maintain High Clinical Standards: Keep up to date with best practice and support colleagues in applying national and local guidance.

Operational Oversight: Ensure medical cover arrangements, participate in mortality reviews, and support safe patient admissions and discharges.

Budget Awareness: Work with the responsible budget holder to ensure effective resource management.

Communication and Representation: Actively represent the hospital at IHC and other relevant meetings, and support responses to patient feedback.
