Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Ophthalmic department in Wrexham Hospital for x 1 Ophthalmology Nurse Practitioners Band 7. The Ophthalmology Nurse Practitioner will support the Ophthalmology Consultant team in Wrexham to provide specialised clinical care and safely deliver treatment programmes to patients with medical retina conditions and glaucoma.
Main duties of the job
This includes:
- Assessment of specific Retinal conditions for which intra-vitreal injections are the mode of management and assessment and review of stable Glaucoma patients.
- To deliver a Nurse Led Intra-vitreal Injection Service at Wrexham using Anti Vascular Endothelial Growth Factors, which previously were administered by a specialist doctor trained in this procedure. (Service to be reviewed annually by HMT team to consider all / any of the Anti- VEGF injections)
- To demonstrate responsibility for assessment of care needs and the delivery of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring a delivery of high quality care to patients.
- The Ophthalmology Nurse Practitioner (ANP) will work as part of a team of clinicians, nurse practitioners (NPs), nurses, as a nurse practitioner demonstrating a high level of practice and professional autonomy.
- The post holder will not be restricted to administer treatment just for Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) patients who will have agreed treatment pathways, but also for non AMD patients who require intra-vitreal injections (Diabetic macular oedema and retinal vein occlusion)
Post - 30hrs per week
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
