Band 5 Registered Nurse - Ward 14 Discharge Unit

Fixed Term: 3 months (until 31/03/2026)

Ward 14 Discharge Unit is a dedicated area supporting patients who are medically fit to leave the main ward but require short-term care or coordination before going home or to another care setting. The unit ensures safe, timely discharge, improves patient flow, and helps reduce delays and hospital-acquired infections. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; however, English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse on the Discharge Unit, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients who are medically fit for discharge but require short-term support before leaving hospital. You will:

  • Assess and monitor patients to ensure safe, timely discharge.
  • Coordinate care plans, medications, and follow-up arrangements.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient flow.
  • Maintain infection prevention standards and best practice.
