An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department Team. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, clinically sound and friendly Band 5 registered nurse who is keen to develop emergency nursing skills and is driven to deliver high quality patient focused care.

Our multidisciplinary team consists of Emergency Medicine Consultants, resident doctors, advanced clinical practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, liaison nurses for mental health, learning disability and substance misuse and pharmacists which together work to assess and treat the complex mix of Emergency Department patients. Working as part of the Emergency Department team you would have the opportunity to learn from these experts in the management of emergency illness and injuries.

Our Emergency Department comprises of a 4 bedded resuscitation room, 20 short stay rooms, a dedicated paediatric area and a helipad. We are a trauma centre and part of the Midlands Trauma Network.

We are passionate about offering internal and external training and our nurses are professionally supported by the Practice Development Nurse and a Team Leader.

Main duties of the job

The main duties whilst working within the Emergency Department will include:

The delivery of high standards of evidence-based emergency nursing care

Being responsible for the delivery of planed direct patient care to a high standard without supervision in accordance with nursing procedures and policies.

With the support of the multidisciplinary team be responsible in the co-ordination of discharge planning.

Contributing to the health promotion of all patients who attend the Emergency Department providing education, support and advice and where appropriate referral to key professionals and / or agencies.

In the absence of a more senior staff member be responsible for the delegation and supervision of other qualified staff, healthcare support workers and students.

Be responsible for treating patients with courtesy and respect maintaining confidentiality at all times.
