We've an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our PTS team at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital, working as a product approver. We're looking for reliable, conscientious individuals to join our friendly team.
Services provided involve preparation of ready to use injectable medicines. Due to the nature of our work you will be expected to follow departmental procedures, comply with Good Manufacturing (GMP) Standards and show good attention to detail.
Previous experience in a Pharmacy Manufacturing unit is required, the successful candidate will also have completed an appropriate, recognised Product Approval Course. PTS supports development of all our staff, training opportunities will be given to further your development.
Main duties of the job
Duties of the post can be found in the Job description and include:
- Product Approval: Final check and release of aseptically prepared medicines, ensuring compliance with SOPs and GMP.
- Aseptic Preparation: Prepare chemotherapy, TPN, radiopharmaceuticals, and other sterile/non-sterile products.
- Staff Management: Supervise and manage pharmacy technicians, assistants, and trainees; oversee rotas and performance.
- Training & Competency: Deliver training, assess staff competencies, and maintain training records.
- Quality & Compliance: Support audits, environmental monitoring, and validation processes; ensure MHRA and QA compliance.
- Stock & Resources: Manage stock control, minimise waste, and liaise with purchasing teams.
- Patient Services: Dispense prescriptions, counsel patients, and respond to medication queries.
- General Duties: Use pharmacy IT systems, participate in rotas, attend meetings, and contribute to service development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
