In this role, you will work closely with Radiology team leaders and colleagues from other departments to book appointments, liaise directly with patients, and help ensure clinics run smoothly and efficiently. You'll also communicate with doctors and area leads to confirm session availability and support effective scheduling.
A clear understanding of NHS Wales appointment booking guidelines and a commitment to excellent communication are essential. Experience working with waiting lists and confidence using spreadsheets would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Radiology admin team, you'll manage your own workload with minimal supervision, coordinating outpatient appointments across multiple Radiology modalities. You'll handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries with professionalism and empathy, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Responsibilities include registering and validating referrals, updating patient records on RadIS, and ensuring timely clinical prioritisation and appointment scheduling in line with NHS Wales guidelines.
You'll monitor waiting lists, Radiology list capacity, and ensure appointment slots are filled appropriately. This includes arranging interpreters or transport when needed, and communicating sensitive information to patients with care. You'll also support data quality checks, report on waiting list performance, and contribute to service improvements.
Additional duties include assisting with Radiology list cancellations, supporting additional, short notice lists, mentoring new staff, maintaining supplies, and providing cover during staff absences. You'll attend mandatory training, participate in personal development reviews, and follow BCUHB's risk management and data protection policies.
