Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Job summary

We are in the process of recruiting a replacement consultant to join our existing team.

This is a substantive post supporting the current Gynaecology service with Obstetric component. The post holder will be supporting consultant delivered care and junior doctor training through alternative models of working. There will be a general commitment in obstetrics and gynaecology. We are particularly seeking a colleague with interest in Benign Gynaecology or Antenatal Care, in addition to a broad range of generic skillsin Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Main duties of the job

  • This is a substantive post supporting the current Gynaecology service with Obstetric component.
  • The post holder will be supporting consultant delivered care and junior doctor training through alternative models of working.
  • There will be a general commitment in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • The on call frequency is1:11. The consultant during non-resident out of hours is expected to be available within 30 minutes of being called.
  • The appointee will take full responsibility for clinical care of patients during their duties.
  • Additional support and mentoring will also be available as appropriate based on the appointee's experience.
  • The consultant is expected to be physically on site while providing labour ward cover during working hours.

Essential

  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • Inclusion on Specialist Register of GMC or eligible for award of CCT within 6 months of interview date
  • RCOG Benign Gynaecology ATSM or equivalent.
  • Colposcopy accreditation if undertaking Colposcopy

Desirable

  • Menopause ATSM or equivalent
  • Additional relevant degree(s)
  • Teaching qualification
  • Qualification/Evidence of management and administration experience

Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate experience in training grade posts at SpR/SR/STR leading to accreditation for CCT, CESR or recognised equivalent
  • Equivalent training accepted by College/GMC for Specialist Register (CESR)
  • Experience of supervising junior staff
  • Proven engagement in management activities

Desirable

  • Evidence of audit/Quality improvement projects
  • Additional clinical experience/training that may be required
