Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced healthcare leader to join the Transformation team as Senior Portfolio Manager. This is an exciting time to be joining the team, playing a key role in co-ordinating the organisation's Special Measures efforts and building upon the foundations built during the first year as we integrate with the Annual Delivery Plan.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about change and improving outcomes for our patients; ensuring the organisation realises the benefits of upcoming major change programmes. You will be required to build and maintain strong relationships with clinical and managerial staff across BCU, operating with autonomy and gaining confidence of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in delivering change, implementing rigorous programme management and ensuring accurate, timely and relevant information to enable the organisation to make sound decisions. The post holder will utilise their extensive programme and change management experience to promote and implement robust governance and assurance processes, embedding them organisationally to ensure consistency and sustainability of methodology.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Portfolio Office Manager will enable the strategic oversight of all programmes / projects within scope, producing accurate, timely, relevant and innovative information to enable the organisation to make sound decisions at programme, project and board level. The post holder will utilise their programme and change management experience to promote and implement robust governance and assurance processes, embedding them organisationally to ensure consistency and sustainability of methodology.
The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with services in the development of robust plans, coupling this with a clear understanding of Board requirements around assurance of impact and translating the delivery of actions into improved patient outcomes.
Current priorities for the team include developing the organisation's approach to managing the overall change portfolio, including our major change programmes, ensuring the organisation adopts standardised ways of working. The appointed candidate will be expected to bring subject matter expertise and credibility in Portfolio, Programme and Project Management, advising the organisation and ensuring successful delivery as well as alignment to local and national priorities.
The role will involve acting as 'gatekeeper' for the range of programmes, aligning them to the strategic portfolios and agreeing with the Head of Organisational PMO the processes required.
