Job summary
Applications are invited to apply for the post of Locum Consultant Paediatrician in Acute Paediatrics. The successful candidate will join a team of 11 Acute Consultant Paediatricians and 7 Consultant Neonatologists. The post is a 7-session post. There is a 1:9 on call commitment for general paediatrics. We are also running a 1:9 Consultant of the Week system as well as 1:9 Paediatric Assessment Unit provision as part of a total of a pro-rota 10-session contract. The 7-session contract is split into 5 direct clinical care sessions and 2 supporting professional activity sessions in line with the Welsh Consultant Contract.
This is a Fixed term position.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have responsibility for acute general paediatric services.
- The successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in the clinical governance programme of the department, providing support to undergraduate and postgraduates as necessary.
- The Consultant Paediatrician will ensure maintenance of relevant skills through continuing professional development with an annual appraisal.
- The Consultant Paediatrician will provide clinical supervision for other paediatricians and clinical and educational supervision for specialist paediatric trainees.
- The Consultant Paediatrician will participate in the relevant children's management meetings for the service
