Speciality Doctor with research interest - in Paediatrics x1 (10 session contract, with 2 additional programme activity sessions) - 12 months

  • 1 Speciality Doctor role, full time
  • General paediatric work with neonatal cover alongside extensive scope to undertake research
  • Additional sessions specifically to accommodate special interest development and paid time away from the rota in Bangor University to build appropriate knowledge and skills in research
  • A modern, progressive and recently extended paediatric outpatient department, Paediatric Assessment Unit and Emergency Department which will have a dedicated paediatric area
  • Based in North West Wales, an area of outstanding natural beauty encompassing Snowdonia National Park and miles of coastline and sandy beaches, a veritable adventure playground
  • Located close to larger urban areas in North West England, with easy transport links

Main duties of the job

The department currently has 8 WTE consultants and we run a Service week model. One of the consultants chooses to contribute to the second on call rota. The tier 1 rota consists of GP trainees, FY2 and FY3 doctors, and standalone trust doctors. The second on call rota comprises of non-training permanent staff grade doctors.

  • APLS/EPALS (or equivalent)
  • NLS (or equivalent)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MRCPCH or Equivalent
  • MBBS or medical equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • At least 4 years of paediatric experience, not including foundation modules with 6-12 months of neonatal experience.
  • 12 months NHS experience
  • Must have competencies to work at registrar level.

Desirable

  • Experience in a level 2 or 3 neonatal unit at Middle grade/Registrar level. Previous clinical experience of Child Protection cases
  • Minimum 24 month NHS experience
  • Second on-call UK experience
  • Previous experience in undertaking research
