Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen whereby we are recruiting to the role of an Advanced Manufacturing Technician to expand our team within the Pharmacy Production Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital. We are looking for a forward thinking, highly motivated individual with a keen interest within the field of Pharmacy Technical Services.

For this role, we will equally accept applications from candidates who hold current registration with either the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician, or with the General Science Council following completion of the Science Manufacturing Technician qualification.Due to the developmental opportunities that this role offers, candidates who are currently undertaking their qualification and are due to register with either professional body within the next 6 months are also equally welcome to apply.

This position offers developmental opportunities and the starting salary is dependent on experience. There is the potential for successful candidates to commence the role on a band 4 salary, with progression to a band 5 where defined competencies and objectives are achieved within a 12-month period. Successful candidates will be provided the required support and training to aid with the progression opportunities within this developmental role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

As an Advanced Manufacturing Technician, main duties of the role will include;

Participation in manufacturing of chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, parental nutrition and radiopharmaceuticals - working to Good Manufacturing Practice principles and utilising aseptic technique, as well as training other members of the team in these areas.

Working within cleanroom environments, upholding high levels of cleanroom behaviour and comportment at all times and supervising the team working within the area to ensure compliance.

To actively participate in continuous quality improvement of pharmaceutical care, supporting the Lead Production Pharmacist in the maintenance and development of the Pharmaceutical Quality System.

To work as a Pre and In-Process Checking competent individual (PIPC) in accordance with departmental SOPs This role will involve undertaking pre-and in-process checks of ingredients for use in the production of aseptic/non-sterile products prior to preparation according to SOPs.

Following completion of the Accredited programme delivered by Pharmacy Workforce Development South, to partake in the Product Approval process for individual patient doses covered within the scope of the programme and individual competence.

To partake in the final checking process of MS Licensed batches in accordance to departmental SOPs, following successful completion of training programmes.
