Job summary

The Living Well Service MDT is a team composed of professionals in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Psychology, Dietetics and Speech & Language therapy. Our aim is to undertake a comprehensive multi-disciplinary biopsychosocial assessment and formulation, in collaboration with our clients. We will identify and offer a range of interventions and options for support and onward referral in order to prevent the development of chronic disability and where this is not possible, to help people function as well as possible within the limits of their condition.We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Psychologist (to be based in north west Wales) who has excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with people. A commitment to clinical excellence is vital, and we welcome candidates who have the potential to develop, who can work confidently under supervision, can follow direction, have the ability to work in teams, and are adaptable and responsive to the needs of the service they are working in.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will assist the clinical psychology team in providing assessments, formulations and therapeutic interventions. Thepost holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, consisting of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech and languagetherapy and advanced clinical practitioners. The role will also involve liaising and working with a range of other departments, disciplines andagencies to support the work of the team.

To undertake psychological assessment of clients applying psychological tests (e.g., WAIS), including self-report measures, rating scales, andsemi-structured interviews with clients, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.

To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving psychological treatment of clients difficulties, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.

To support patients coming into the service through induction telephone calls to introduce them to the service, under the supervision of a qualifiedclinical psychologist.

To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
