Job summary
This post is fixed term/secondment until April 2026 to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
To support the Ward Manager in the day to day management of the ward. To take charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager. To ensure the ward runs efficiently, by promoting mental health care through Health Board policies and NMC guidelines and code of practice. To contribute to the development of junior staff, which furthers the objectives of the service, by providing supervision and tuition, based on research and developing trends in health care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To take charge of the ward and unit in the absence of Ward Managers/Unit Manager. Which includes staffing issues i.e. duty rotas.
To take charge of the unit in the absence of senior staff.
Act as key worker for a group of clients which involves assessing, planning and implementing of care. Planned one to ones dealing with sensitive and complicated information.
To manage all nursing resources in the absence of the Ward Manager, through organisation and prioritisation of work needs. Authorisation of bank staff.
To promote effective working relationships on the ward and within the unit by working collaboratively with other team members.
To demonstrate appropriate effective interventions including management of aggression, manual handling and administration of medication.
To provide support to staff and take a lead role in personal development review, management supervision and clinical supervision.
To provide support to staff and take a lead role in risk assessments.
