Job summary

You will be working a highly pressurised, fast paced environment to co-ordinate administrative duties with precision and efficiency, ensuring the smooth running of our service and managing our rheumatology advice line. Working closely with our current administrative and clinical team, especially the Rheumatology Nurse Specialists, you will foster a collaborative and supportive environment that puts patients first.

This post will support telephone queries and signpost advice and help to patients in an effort to streamline the service, direct the calls to the right place and ensure patients who need to be seen urgently are flagged to the team appropriately.

Main duties of the job

  • Highly organized in managing own workload using and applying initiative with minimum supervision.
  • To participate and co-operate with the Clinical team and other disciplines to contribute to the effectiveness of the service as a whole.
  • To provide front of house reception service for patients or relatives arriving in the unit, welcoming them and signposting them as appropriate ensuring they are dealt with in a tactful professional manner and that confidentiality is maintained and adhered to at all times.
  • Receive and communicate basic information to patients and carers with reassurance, tact and sensitivity.
  • The post holder will liaise with multi-disciplinary staff within the department to provide a point of contact for the patients, relatives, other departments within the hospital, GPs and other hospitals as required.
  • The post holder will be responsible for supporting the rheumatology service in the delivery of care to patients via the services telephone advice line keeping and contributing to the patients' health care record.
  • Will provide accurate and relevant information to callers according to the patient's needs, using excellent communication and reflective listening skills, ensuring appropriate and accurate information is given and passed on

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
