Job summary

Betsi Cadwalladr University Health Board has invested significantly in staff engagement, having recently launched our new Health Board values and embarked on a wide-ranging change programme, Foundations for the Future. To ensure we have effective policies and practices which our Medical & Dental colleagues can navigate and deploy, we are expanding our team to incorporate a new Medical Staffing Specialist role.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual with excellent people skills and a compassionate approach to leadership to join our Health Board in a crucial role developing and implementing a medical workforce policies and practices.

Flexible working will be considered however we reserve the right to request onsite presence as required, this can be discussed prior to interview.

Main duties of the job

The role holder will be our People Services expert within the field of Welsh Medical & Dental terms and conditions and will provide leadership in developing policies and processed to ensure compliance with associated legislation and regulations.

Provide specialist advice on medical workforce matters, including recruitment, employee practices, and strategies.

Lead or support Health Board corporate projects related to medical workforce.

Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Medical Directors, Clinical Leads, and Workforce and OD colleagues.

Ensure compliance with NHS Employment Check standards and safe recruitment practices.

Support the deployment of all Wales initiatives and medical contract reforms.

Provide guidance on complex employment issues, including disciplinary, grievance, and capability matters.

Develop and deliver training on medical workforce policies and people management skills.

Represent the Health Board in local and national working groups and forums.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Supporting and advising the IHC Resourcing Teams, and Strategic Recruitment Teams(Medical Workforce Officer; Medical Workforce Advisors; Medical Workforce Recruitment team) in order to provide effective operational advice and support to IHCs in all medical and dental employee relations matters, including advice on attendance management, professional and personal conduct, discipline, grievance, bullying and harassment, whistle blowing and capability issues.

To provide accurate, consistent, comprehensive and professional HR advice and support to managers and medical & dental personnel within IHCs on recruitment and selection; employee relations; terms and conditions of employment and HR policies and procedures surrounding the appointment, contracting & dealing with employment issues relating to Doctors and Dentists.

Develop relevant Medical Workforce policies, developing and delivering training on people management skills for medical & dental managers to support them to undertake operational people management activities within their area of responsibility as appropriate.

Work with the People Operations Teams to ensure the provision of a pro-active sickness management support to medical managers including liaison with Occupational Health Services by providing policy advice and relevant training interventions to medical managers.
