Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Job summary

We are in the process of recruiting a replacement consultant to join our existing team following a retirement. This is a full time substantive post with commitment in both obstetrics and gynaecology.The applicant must have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and must be registered in the GMC's specialist register or be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. We are particularly seeking a colleague with either interests in Benign Gynaecology or Antenatal care, in addition to a broad range of generic skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Main duties of the job

This is a substantive post supporting the current Gynaecology service with Obstetric component. The post holder will be supporting consultant delivered care and junior doctor training through alternative models of working. There will be a general commitment in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.The on call frequency is around 1:10. The consultant during non-resident out of hours is expected to be available within 30 minutes of being called. The appointee will take full responsibility for clinical care of patients during their duties. Additional support and mentoring will also be available as appropriate based on the appointee's experience.The consultant is expected to be physically on site while providing labour ward cover during working hours.

  • MRCOG or equivalent appropriate specialist registration (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
