Job summary

The Radiotherapy Department in the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, Glan Clwyd Hospital is looking to appoint to the post of Senior Health Care Assistant. (Part time-time 22.5 hours / 3 days per week).

The post holder will work within the radiotherapy team to support and contribute to a high quality, patient focussed service.

Duties involve preparing and supporting the radiotherapy clinics, working independently and with the radiographers and departmental nurse to care for patients whilst in the department, perform basic patient observation assessments and assist in general patient care. The role will involve radiotherapy reception cover when required.The post holder will be able to deliver elements of health and social care by having the knowledge and assessed level of competence to undertake such a role

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a health care setting within a hospital environment. Experience of oncology/cancer patients would be an advantage. Knowledge of WCP, iFit and NEPTS online hospital transport system is desirable, however training can be given.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the nursing team delivering evidence based high quality clinical care that focuses on the direct need of the patient.

The post holder will assist registered nurses/practitioner in the provision of delegated care of patients. The post holder will endeavour to provide for the holistic needs of the individual, in conjunction with other disciplines within the health care environment.

The post holder will undertake a broad range of duties and will be expected to work independently and as part of the team, supervising patients and assisting them with future care plan.

The post holder will also be required to offer assistance in induction of junior healthcare workers and apprenticeships.

The post holder will be able to deliver elements of health and social care by having the knowledge and assessed level of competence to undertake such a role which will be locally assessed
