An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and organised individual to work in our Neurodevelopmental team, based in Wrexham. The part-time (0.6 WTE) Band 7 post will involve working with children and young people and their families with Neurodevelopmental conditions and/or learning difficulties.

You will work in the East Neurodevelopmental Service which covers Wrexham and Flintshire in North Wales. The team is multidisciplinary, including a Band 6 SLT and ND practitioners from a range of backgrounds including SLT. The service offers Neurodevelopmental assessment services to children and young people. The leadership team comprises of a team leader who is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the team, as well as clinical and admin leads working in partnership with the service manager.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work with children and young people within the service completing Neurodevelopmental assessments and personal strengths and needs profiles. Previous experience working with this client group is essential. You will have enthusiasm and skills to support service development and be able to lead and contribute on a range of projects to ensure a co-ordinated service provision. You will interface with a range of other services, working collaboratively to support children, young people and their families.

You will be required to liaise with a network of SLTs across BCUHB working in both ND teams and core SLT services to reduce barriers between services and deliver a collaborative service. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to support colleagues within core services utilising their specialist skills and knowledge around this client group. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

The role will include providing clinical and professional supervision to other team members and leading and developing the role of SLT within the MDT. You will also support with developing and offering consultation to other professionals supporting children and young people presenting with Neurodiverse differences.
