Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Denbigh Minor Injuries and outpatients department as a Band 4 Practitioner assistant. This is a permanent band 4 post, 0.80 WTE (30 hours per week) The Minor injuries and outpatient department provides emergency treatment care for minor injuries, such as stable fractured limbs, sprains, burns, wounds etc Monday to Friday 08:00am to 18:00pm. The outpatient department provides facilities and clinic space for all specialities of the BCUHB trust and local GP surgeries, including Phlebotomy. The practitioner's assistant will work alongside the Emergency nurse practitioner and outpatients nurses.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be able to deliver elements of health and social care and undertake clinical work in domains that have previously only been within the remit of registered professionals. The post holder would also have the underpinning knowledge and assessed level of competence to undertake such a role - locally assessed.
? At the direction of the Registered Nurse, participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care without direct supervision.
? Implements care for patients in MIU /OPD; observes patient condition,
? Records clinical observations and reports to qualified nurse; contributes to assessment of care needs, maintain smooth running of clinics, act as scrub nurse in Theatre. Respond to emergencies.
? Carries out nursing procedures e.g. ECG, Bladder scan, Doppler's, Re-dressing wounds, Blood sugar levels, Venepuncture, Application of plaster casts
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
