Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an assistant psychologist to join the stroke clinical psychology team in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). This team is part of a major redevelopment of stroke services in the region and a unique opportunity for post-holders to work with therapy and medical colleagues in clinical service provision. The stroke psychology team operates across North Wales at the district general hospitals and rehabilitation sites of each of the east, central, and west areas.

We are looking for a full-time assistant psychologist to join the stroke psychology and inpatient stroke rehabilitation service.

Experience of working in stroke or acquired brain injury in an inpatient or hospital setting is desirable. Applicants wishing to work part time and/or job share will be considered.

The stroke psychology service is affiliated with the North Wales Brain Injury Service which is a hub of neuropsychology and community neurorehabilitation in the region.

Main duties of the job

The role includes direct clinical work, supporting multi-disciplinary colleagues, training, and assisting the head of service with service-related research and audit. The successful candidate will be passionate about working towards the goal of improving clinical care for persons affected by stroke and have a strong interest in clinical neuropsychology. Experience and/or interest in neurological conditions, working within multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, completing neuropsychological assessments, and implementing psychological approaches to supporting adjustment are considered desirable skills for this post.
