Job summary

We are looking for an experienced CAMHS practitioners with a passion for delivering early intervention and prevention support to children, young people and their families. Following a successful roll out of the Family Wellbeing Practitioner (FWP) service an exciting opportunity has arisen in the central area for a Band 7 FWP post based in the Conwy County Borough Council area. The family wellbeing practitioner is an experienced CAMHS practitioner aligned with a cluster of primary care GP surgeries. The practitioner offers training and consultation to primary care practitioners, in addition to providing direct advice and brief intervention to children, young people and their families presenting with concerns about emotional wellbeing. The practitioner will work in partnership with, and alongside, other services and settings in the local community who provide support for children, young people and families.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for clinicians with substantial knowledge in child and adolescent development and early intervention and prevention strategies to improve emotional wellbeing. The successful candidate will have well developed assessment and formulation skills, the ability to provide both broad and specific advice in relation to emotional health and wellbeing in children and mental health and developmental disorders.

The ability to support children and young people by supporting other professionals through teaching and consultation is essential for this post. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a commitment to safe, evidence based and efficient practice and will be committed to providing a compassionate and person centred approach. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to implement, develop, and enhance the model within their clusters with the support of the health board cluster-coordinators, CAMHS teams, operational and clinical leads, and family wellbeing practitioner peers. If successful, you will receive a full induction, clinical supervision and line management. Opportunities for continuous professional development will be provided. Post holders will be aligned with the local CAMHS team and will maintain a close relationship (weekly) with our CAMHS SPoA, assessment team, and broader CAMHS MDT.

Essential

  • Registered health or social care professional with active professional registration. Eligible to practice under the mental health measure Wales 2010. This includes registered mental health nurses, social workers (Social Care Wales registration),
  • Clinical Master's Degree or equivalent educational or experience indicating performance at masters level
  • Formal accredited additional therapeutic qualification and or non-medical nurse prescriber.

Desirable

  • Post-graduate management qualification

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Substantial relevant experience in a clinical post with children and young people
  • Track record of significant continuous professional development including an early intervention and prevention focus
  • Service Development experience
  • Proven experience in the creation/promotion of learning environment
  • Experience in teaching, mentorship and coaching
  • Experience of service user teaching and information giving
  • Developing higher levels of autonomy
  • Assessing and managing risk.
  • Including single consultation models and brief therapy
  • Service user engagement
