Job summary
- To provide pharmaceutical advice and support antimicrobial stewardship within secondary, primary and community care
- To work closely with the BCUHB antimicrobial pharmacist, infection prevention and control, microbiology team to ensure effective and safe use of antimicrobials.
- To support the lead antimicrobial pharmacist in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating protocols and guidelines for antimicrobial therapy.
- To review and update antimicrobial guidelines hosted on electronic application or platform.
- To attend BCUHB groups related to antimicrobial stewardship and deputise for the lead antimicrobial pharmacist.
- To support antimicrobial stewardship audits and feedback on results, involving the analysis and presentation of collected data.
Main duties of the job
- To lead and assist on antimicrobial stewardship projects and policy, developing strategies, that reflect national or local objectives in tackling antimicrobial resistance.
- Regularly analyse information, provide report and proactive advice on optimising antimicrobial use.
- Assist in the investigation and review of any antimicrobial-related incidents and post infection review.
- To assist in the management of antimicrobial stock shortages and national recalls, providing support to the lead antimicrobial pharmacist and Pharmacy Procurement Team in relation to managing of returns, and appropriate supply.
- To be involved in planning of training, and updating of training materials relating to antimicrobial stewardship and infection control.
- To provide training and support to the public, medical, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare colleagues on antimicrobials and antimicrobial stewardship.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
